Guardians of Florida Animal Rescue, Inc
We Are Their Voice
Founded on April 27, 2021, by a passionate group of professional women, Guardians of Florida Animal Rescue, Inc. (GOFAR) is dedicated to providing a voice, hope, and a future to animals in need. Our mission is to remove animals from abusive, neglectful, or high-risk situations and provide them with the care and restoration they deserve.
Our Commitment to Compassion
We saw an urgent need to help animals across South and Central Florida, from stray animals and owner surrenders to those trapped in puppy mills or high-kill shelters. By leveraging decades of collective experience in animal welfare, we strive to give every innocent soul a chance at a beautiful life. It is our honor to serve as the guardians these animals need while they await their forever families.
A Blend of Care and Community
At GOFAR, we utilize both a dedicated kennel facility in Fort Myers and a robust, home-based foster network to ensure every pet gets the specific attention they require. While some animals thrive in our kennel, others find the healing they need in the quiet comfort of a foster home, where they can socialize and recover from medical procedures. This combined approach allows us to tailor our care to the unique emotional and physical needs of every individual dog or cat.
Finding Your Perfect Match
We believe that adoption is the start of a lifelong, joyful partnership. Our team works hard to understand your routine, family life, and preferences, ensuring a thoughtful match that helps our rescues flourish in their new forever homes. By prioritizing these connections, we ensure our animals are placed into environments where they will be loved and supported for years to come.
Join Our Mission
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to explore our adoptable pets or learn more about how you can join our team as a volunteer or foster. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of animals who have no other advocate.

10/8 - 😌MAMA CHIQI #A2821388 AND HER SURVIVING NEWBORN PUPS – WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU MAMA❤️🩹 A plea came to help this little mama and her tiny, vulnerable, newborn pups who landed at Miami Dade Animal Services. They were transported to us today and sadly a few passed even before transport could pick them up. Mama Chiqi is very underweight and doing her best for her 4 remaining puppies, but she needs a lot of help and we are going to give that to her. Hopefully together we can get all four over the hump and on their way to being healthy and strong. This little family will be with us awhile. Please consider a small donation for all they will need over the next several weeks (supplemental feeding supplies, kibble, vaccines, deworming, vetting and eventual spay/neuter, etc.): To DONATE: 🐾 Hit DONATE on this post 🐾 VENMO (last 4 digits 7479), PAYPAL, CASHAPP, CREDIT CARD/ACH/APPLE PAY (Via Zeffy): Click DONATE link in bio 🐾 ZELLE: 630-650-1849 🐾 CHECKS: 13931 Sophomore Lane, Ft Myers, FL 33912 🐾 AMAZON/CHEWY WISHLIST: Click DONATE link in bio #adoptdontshop #animalrescue #fyp #foryoupage @urgentdogsofmiami @urgentdogsandcatsofmiami

10/7 - ❤️🩹UPDATE ON BALOO: HE’S LOST EVERYTHING HE LOVED, BUT HE IS HEALING SLOWLY❤️🩹 Baloo was found at a construction site in awful condition with his buddy Nala on Saturday. We were told they had a puppy with them that was taken. Then they disappeared for a few days and came back in horrible condition. They were both rushed to the hospital, but Nala couldn’t be saved due to advanced kidney failure. Baloo has lost what little he had in this world to live for – Nala and their puppy. He was in better condition than Nala, but malnourished, green nasal discharge, completely infested with parasites and fleas and carrying scars of a rough past. He is so completely terrified and exhausted physically and emotionally that it has taken until this morning to just get him to stand and walk. He remains at @vcaknowlessnappercreek , but we are hopeful he can be released very soon to continue his healing journey with the safety and love he deserves. THANK YOU for everyone who has rallied for Baloo (and Nala). To DONATE toward their medical bills and Baloo’s continued care, please see below: 🐾 Direct to vet: 305-279-2323 🐾 Hit DONATE on this post 🐾 VENMO (last 4 digits 7479), PAYPAL, CASHAPP, CREDIT CARD/ACH/APPLE PAY (via Zeffy): https://linktr.ee/gofarrescue 🐾 ZELLE: 630‑650‑1849 🐾 CHECKS: 13931 Sophomore Lane, Fort Myers, FL 33912. #gofardog #adoptdontshop #urgentdogs #foryou #foryoupage💙

10/6 - ❤️🩹UPDATE ON POPPY #A2819679 – PUPPY WITH BULLET WOUND❤️🩹 We received an urgent call late Sept from Miami Dade Animal service asking if we could help Poppy #A2819679, a 6 month old puppy who had just came in with a bloody wound. Xrays showed a bullet or pellet was embedded in her shoulder-yes, a subhuman used her for target practice. We had her rushed over to Alejo Vet Clinic where the surgeon attempted to remove the BB pellet, however it had penetrated so deep into her muscle that he felt it would do more damage to remove it than to leave it be. The great news is that Poppy has been released from the vet and she is a happy, wiggly puppy! She has two drains that will have to be removed at some point and we are watching her closely, but other than that, she is not bothered by anything at all – you would never know what she had been through! THANK YOU to all who supported Poppy and a special thanks to those on the Giving Grid platform who rallied to help us cover Poppy’s care! #urgentpuppy #urgentdog #urgentdogsofmiami foryoupage foryou @urgentdogsandcatsofmiami @urgentdogsofmiami

10/3 - ❤️🩹UPDATE ON CONSTRUCTION SITE DOGS: INITIAL ASSESSMENT FROM HOSPITAL⤵️ They were in urgent need – we couldn’t turn our backs on their suffering despite already overflowing medical cases. Their names are Nala and Baloo and have been checked into @vcaknowlessnappercreek. Here is the initial feedback: · Nala – She is too weak to walk. Immediately put on IV; Xrays and Bloodwork next. Critical condition. Her Day 1 (only) estimate $2.1K-$2.6K. * UPDATE from Sunday: Nala was in advanced kidney failure and was unable to be saved-see post from Sunday on our page for more info 😭💔 · Baloo – Absolutely petrified, but in better condition than Nala. Will eat/drink some on his own. Bloodwork and potential Xrays planned. Guarded condition. His Day 1 (Only) Estimate $0.8K - $1K We have some additional backstory on these two. There have been kind folks feeding them while trying hard to come up with a plan to get them a safe place to land. (Please do not comment with “why didn’t they take them home” – those involved in rescue in this area already have full houses, garages, rooms and bathrooms, animals are dumped everywhere constantly and rescues are full. If they could, they would have). Nala and Baloo were seen with a puppy – it is believed Nala is mom and Baloo is dad. The puppy was taken by someone and they both disappeared for a bit. When they came back, this is the condition they were in. We will work hard to give them their best chance at a future – we plan to provide another update sometime tomorrow. THANK YOU for everyone who is already stepping up with donations for these two!!! 10/3 - 🆘 2 DUMPED DOGS AT CONSTRUCTION SITE – APPEAR TO BE ON DEATH’S DOOR - WE HAVE TO TRY – THEY ARE SUFFERING 😫 UPDATE from Sunday: Nala (brown dog) was in advance kidney failure-she was unable to be saved-see update posted on our page for more info 💔😭. We don’t know how else to put this. We are tired, we are overwhelmed, we are tapped out on medical cases financially and emotionally. But WHAT do we do with this urgent plea we were just sent? One dog appears to be actively dying, the other appears in a slightly better state, can’t tell – we just don’t know. The tears are literally flowing as we type. We can’t say just leave them there and let them suffer. Or call animal control - if they even respond, that could take many hours that they don’t have and the suffering is unbearable. We can’t do nothing. We just can’t. So they will go to VCA Knowles Snapper Creek to see what can be done to help them. We have no idea what they need, if they can be saved, how much it will be. So we are here again, asking our followers – all 17,000 followers – please don’t scroll past without at least stopping to consider a small donation – a few dollars from each follower would solve a lot. We haven’t even paid off the bills from our many other medical cases yet which is still in the 10’s of thousands. We are going to do the right thing for these two dogs, whatever that may be. Please help us do that for them 🙏 🐾Direct to Vet: 305-279-2323 (Nala and Baloo) 🐾Hit DONATE on this post 🐾 VENMO (last 4 digits 7479), PAYPAL, CASHAPP, CREDIT CARD/ACH/APPLE PAY (via Zeffy): https://linktr.ee/gofarrescue 🐾 ZELLE: 630‑650‑1849 or info@gofar.dog 🐾 CHECKS: 13931 Sophomore Lane, Fort Myers, FL 33912. #gofardog #adoptdontshop #urgentdogs #foryou #foryoupage💙 @urgentdogsofmiami @urgentdogsandcatsofmiami

9/30 - ❤️🩹TINY’S TRANSFORMATION STORY – Lifeless to Thriving❤️🩹 Tiny was found at the end of August looking completely lifeless laying in the dirt. Thankfully, he was still alive and was rushed to VCA Knowles Snapper Creek under our rescue. We have been so bombarded with medical cases, we never even had a chance to tell Tiny’s rescue story – so here we go: Tiny was discovered motionless - suffering from extreme heat stroke and appeared to have an injury to his back leg or hip. Fast forward and after nearly a week in the hospital, this little guy came back to life in a big way! As it turns out, he does have an old injury which we are told is better left alone – it was the heat stroke that nearly killed him. Now he is happy as a clam – check him out snoozing next to our big boy Charlie Brown at the end of the video. There was nothing tiny about Tiny’s bill though at $2,311! We truly appreciate any donations to help us cover this bill. And we still have funds to unlock from our $15K matching campaign so your impact will be doubled! Every dollar matters to us, no matter how small. 9/26 - ❤️🩹UPDATE ON LOLA: GENTLE DANE FOUND IN HORRIFIC CONDITION❤️🩹 This sweet baby, once a beautiful, big, healthy girl, was found literally at the point of pure starvation. She was exhausted, beyond emaciated at just 60ish lbs with bones sticking out everywhere you look. Infested with parasites, wounds all over and a gnarly fractured tooth that needs to come out. Two weeks of medical care and TLC and look at her today! 5 lbs gained, light is back in her eyes, the tail wag says she knows she matters now. Thank you to all who played a part in getting Lola safe and to those who have donated to date. She still has at least 20 lbs to gain and oral surgery to come, but she is progressing well! To DONATE towards Lola’s medical bills and her continued care see below (note we still have a long way to go to unlock every dollar of a $15K match – your donation will be doubled until we reach that goal!): 🐾 Hit DONATE on this post 🐾 VENMO (last 4 digits 7479), PAYPAL, CASHAPP, CREDIT CARD/ACH/APPLE PAY (via Zeffy): Click DONATE link in bio! 🐾 ZELLE: 630‑650‑1849 or info@gofar.dog 🐾 CHECKS: 13931 Sophomore Lane, Fort Myers, FL 33912 🐾 STOCK: To amplify tax benefits, click DONATE STOCK link in bio #urgentpuppy #urgentdog #urgentdogsofmiami #foryoupage #foryou
