The Humane Society of North Central Florida is dedicated to eliminating the needless euthanasia of healthy and treatable pets in our region. We believe every animal deserves a genuine second chance at a happy, healthy life.
Born in 2018, our organization was formed when the leadership of Alachua County Humane Society, Gainesville Pet Rescue, and Helping Hands Pet Rescue joined forces to better serve our community. By uniting these long-standing local rescues, we streamline resources to provide superior care while maintaining our status as an independent, privately funded nonprofit.
As a limited-intake, no-kill shelter, we serve as a vital resource for pets transferred from municipal facilities across North Central Florida. Our comprehensive care model includes daily enrichment, professional veterinary services, and foster support, ensuring every animal is fully prepared for their transition into a forever home.
We are committed to building sustainable, lifetime matches between pets and their new families. Our dedicated adoption counselors take the time to understand your needs and lifestyle, ensuring that every adoption is a joyful, lasting success for both you and your new companion.
Whether you are ready to meet your new best friend or looking for ways to support our work, we invite you to be part of our story. Explore our available cats and dogs online, visit us at our North Campus, or join our community of volunteers and supporters today.
