Southeast Volusia Humane Society

Our Mission

At the Southeast Volusia Humane Society, we believe all creatures deserve a life free from fear and pain. We serve as a lifesaving voice for companion animals in Volusia County by demonstrating no-kill principles, encouraging adoption, and advocating for responsible care.

Our History and Community

Founded in 1957 by Vivian Oyler, our organization has long been dedicated to creating a community where every companion animal is valued. We operate as a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit that relies on the heart and dedication of our volunteers and supporters to care for approximately 2,000 animals each year.

How We Care

Our shelter provides a safe, healthy, and happy environment for animals while they wait for their forever families. We are committed to transparency in our lifesaving work and pride ourselves on maintaining an environment that fosters hope for both the people and the animals in our community.

Finding Your Perfect Match

Whether you are looking for a playful dog or a cuddly cat, we believe there is a perfect companion waiting for you. Many of the animals in our care come to us as strays or from previous homes, and they are all eager to share their love. We love seeing the transformation that happens when the right person finds their new best friend, as the joy of rescue is truly unmatched.

Join Our Mission

You can make a difference today by visiting our shelter on South Glencoe Road to meet our wonderful residents. If you cannot adopt, consider supporting our mission through our wishlist, monthly giving, or by joining our dedicated volunteer team. We invite you to be part of the change and help us provide the gift of love to animals in need.
