K9s For Warriors

Our Mission

K9s For Warriors is the nation’s leading provider of trained Service Dogs to military Veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and military sexual trauma. We are dedicated to saving lives at both ends of the leash by rescuing dogs and pairing them with Veterans in need.

The Why

Founded in 2011 by the late Shari Duval, our organization grew from a mother’s hope to help her own son transition back into civilian life after his service in Iraq. We believe in the healing power of dogs and work tirelessly to restore independence and dignity to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

The How

We go the extra mile by rescuing dogs and giving them a second chance at life as highly trained Service Dogs. Our unique program provides these rescue dogs with a new purpose, while our Veterans receive the life-changing support they need to navigate the invisible wounds of war. We maintain rigorous standards for both our training facilities and our care to ensure every pair has the best foundation for success.

The Adopter Connection

Every adoption and pairing is a journey toward mutual healing and recovery. We pride ourselves on our thoughtful matching process, where our expert trainers consider personality and lifestyle to create an unbreakable bond between the Veteran and their new battle buddy. We are committed to supporting our pairs long after they graduate, ensuring every team has what they need to thrive in their new life together.

Finn and I wanted to share something close to our hearts, a mission that gives rescue dogs a second chance and gives veterans a renewed sense of purpose. That’s what @k9sforwarriors does. They rescue dogs like Finn and train them to be service dogs for veterans carrying the invisible wounds of war, helping lives be saved at both ends of the leash. I am so proud to be part of this mission. If you want to learn more or support the work, visit the link in bio or head to k9sforwarriors.org 🐾🇺🇸
