The St. Joseph Bay Humane Society is a dedicated, no-kill shelter committed to relieving animal suffering, preventing cruelty, and enhancing the beautiful bond between humans and their animal companions. We strive to find a loving, forever home for every one of the pets in our care.
Our organization was born in 1995 when a local citizen noticed a need for better care for homeless animals in Gulf County. Following a community-led initiative and a successful partnership with local government, we officially formed in 1998 and opened our purpose-built facility in 2007 to provide safe, comfortable housing for the stray and lost pets of our region.
As the primary holding facility for Gulf County, we serve hundreds of animals each year through our shelter and our vital foster network. We believe that every pet deserves a chance to shine, so we rely on compassionate foster parents to provide temporary, loving homes while pets wait for their families. By offering services like low-cost spay/neuter programs and a community pet food pantry, we work to keep pets healthy and happy in their original homes whenever possible.
Finding the perfect addition to your family is a joyful experience, and our team is here to help you make that meaningful connection. Whether you are looking for a playful dog or a comforting cat, we take pride in helping you find a match that fits your lifestyle. Our pets are ready to become your loyal, loving companions.
You can change a life today by visiting our shelter in Port St. Joe or browsing our current adoptable pets online. From fostering and volunteering to supporting our thrift store or joining our Pawsome Pal monthly giving program, there are many ways to support our mission. We invite you to join our community and help us continue our life-saving work.
