Humane Society of Sarasota County Inc.

Welcome to the Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) – a beacon of compassion and care in animal welfare. Incorporated in 1952, we are proud to be Sarasota's first nonprofit animal welfare organization and the area's premier no-kill shelter. Our commitment is unwavering: we find loving homes for every adoptable pet in our care, ensuring that no adoptable animal is ever euthanized. At HSSC, our mission is simple yet profound – we engage the hearts, hands, and minds of our community to help animals. We provide compassionate care to our shelter pets, promote responsible pet ownership, and aim to enrich the lives of both the animals and the people who adopt them. Imagine saving the lives of 3,000 pets a year; together, we transform lives, creating bonds that last a lifetime. Our vision is a community where all animals are loved and cared for. Through dedicated programs, including our Seniors for Seniors initiative and our TLC program, we strive to meet the diverse needs of both pets and adopters. We also prioritize education and collaboration in animal welfare, working towards a 'No-Kill Florida' through various lifesaving programs and community outreach initiatives. Our values—compassion, commitment, and responsibility—drive our daily operations and interactions within the community. We believe that the welfare of animals is a collective responsibility, and we invite you to join us in this crucial mission. Whether it's adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating, your involvement makes a significant difference in the lives of countless pets and families.
