Our Mission
Satchel’s Last Resort is a dedicated no-kill animal shelter and sanctuary committed to the mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats who have nowhere else to go due to breed, behavior, or medical challenges. We believe every animal is created equal and deserves to live the life of a beloved pet.
Our Story
Our journey began when our founders rescued a stray Chesapeake Bay Retriever from the streets of Chicago. After being turned away by other shelters due to the dog's temperament, they took him home, loved him, and saw him transform into a companion—proving that with patience, even the most misunderstood animals can become productive members of society.
A Sanctuary for Healing
We are situated on 12 acres in South Sarasota, providing an airy, spacious environment where our animals can thrive. Our dogs enjoy comfortable, airy kennels and four outings each day, whether through walks, playtime in our three large play yards, or agility training. Our cats are housed in separate open rooms, ensuring they receive the specialized, individualized attention they need while waiting for their forever homes.
