Humane Society of Polk County
Our Mission
The Humane Society of Polk County is dedicated to improving the lives of animals and the people who care for them through compassionate sheltering, adoption, and community support. We strive to create a more humane community by preventing cruelty and reducing animal suffering.
Our History and Community
Since our charter in 1972, we have been a steadfast partner in Polk County’s animal welfare landscape. In 2004, we proudly became a no-kill shelter, ensuring that we do not euthanize animals simply to create space. Our team remains focused on providing a safe haven and vital resources for the animals and residents of Central Florida.
How We Care
Operating from our facility on Dundee Road, our staff provides comprehensive care to every animal, including spay or neuter surgeries, vaccinations, microchipping, and thorough veterinary exams. Beyond our shelter walls, we champion our no-kill vision by reducing the number of unwanted pets through our affordable SNIP program. Whether through our in-shelter care or our active foster program, we work tirelessly to prepare every animal for a successful transition to a forever home.
Your Role in Their Journey
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership, which is why we focus on creating the perfect love connection for you and your family. Our team provides personalized support to ensure you and your new companion are set up for a lifetime of happiness. We encourage you to meet our wonderful animals and discover the joy of giving a deserving pet a second chance.
