Our Mission
Athens-Clarke County Animal Services is dedicated to protecting both our community and the animals in our care. We work tirelessly to promote public safety while providing humane treatment and finding loving, forever homes for the pets that come through our doors.
Serving Our Community
We believe that strong partnerships lead to the best possible outcomes for every animal. By balancing our responsibilities under local ordinances with compassionate care and professional service, we strive to maintain a healthy and safe environment for all pets and residents in Athens-Clarke County.
How We Care for Our Animals
Our shelter at 125 Buddy Christian Way serves as a vital hub for stray, surrendered, and impounded animals. We provide essential medical care, including vaccinations, microchipping, and spay/neuter services, to ensure every pet is ready for its next chapter. We also work closely with rescue organizations and transport programs to expand our reach and maximize lifesaving opportunities.
Your Role in Their Journey
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are committed to helping you find the perfect companion for your family. We prioritize local residents in our adoption process to ensure our community members have a fair opportunity to adopt pets within their own neighborhoods. When you adopt from us, you aren't just getting a pet; you are participating in a compassionate mission to give deserving animals a second chance.
