The Humane Society of Blue Ridge is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community through rescue, adoption, education, and compassionate care. Our mission is to create a more compassionate, pet-friendly community for all by rescuing and rehoming animals while supporting families with vital resources.

We believe in creating long-term solutions that help both pets and the people who love them. Beyond our shelter walls, we actively reduce pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs, affordable veterinary care, and community outreach like pet food assistance and trap-neuter-return efforts.

Every animal at our facility has a unique story, and our goal is to help them begin their next chapter in a loving home. We provide a safe, nurturing environment at our adoption center where our team ensures each animal receives necessary medical care, including spay or neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and microchipping, before meeting their new families.

10/15 - Cocktails for a Cause 🍸🐾 @chestersblueridge and @humanesocietyblueridge are teaming up to put the spotlight on some very deserving adoptable dogs, one cocktail at a time. Next up: ALMOND! For the next two weeks until October 25 order THE ALMOND at Chester’s - a spiced pear & apple mule. 🍐🍎 Made with apple vodka, spiced pear liqueur, lime juice and ginger beer. 😮💨 100% of the profits from every ALMOND cocktail sold will be donated to Humane Society of Blue Ridge, while ALMOND gets some well-deserved attention of her own. 🥹 Every two weeks through November, a new HSBR adoptable dog and a new cocktail will be announced, with 100% of the profits donated to support HSBR's life saving mission. ❤️🩹 Then, mark your calendar for November 1, when HSBR will be at Chester’s for a special adoption event where you can meet some of the dogs behind the drinks. 10/10 - Behind every kennel door is a story, and not all of them are easy to tell. Some of the animals in our care are recovering from illness or injury. Some are learning to trust people again after abuse and neglect. Others have been with us for months, waiting for someone to give them a chance. We share a lot of happy adoption stories here, but there’s so much that happens before those moments. Our staff shows up every single day to care for these animals, through the difficult days, the small victories and everything in between. Alongside our volunteers and fosters, they put an incredible amount of time, patience and heart into making sure every animal has the best chance possible. ❤️🩹 We’re so grateful for the people who do this work and for a community that continues to stand behind them. 10/6 - meet ALMOND! Female 2 years & 8 months old Shepherd Mix Sweet as sugar, incredibly smart, loves fetch, LOVES playing in the water and is an all around active baby girl! She's a very social girl who frequently goes on the town with staff & volunteers! 9/29 - Meet BABY, a beautiful 13-year-old Siamese girl who is looking for a loving home to spend her golden years. 🥹❤️🩹 BABY came to us after her guardian passed away and she was surrendered to Polk County Animal Control. After so many years in a home, finding herself in a shelter was a big change. Now she’s with us, getting a fresh start and another chance at finding someone to love. At 13, BABY isn’t asking for much; just a quiet home, a cozy spot to curl up and someone who understands how special senior cats can be.
