The Etowah Valley Humane Society exists to prevent cruelty to animals, relieve their suffering, and provide humane treatment for those in need. We are dedicated to creating a compassionate community where every animal receives the care and respect they deserve.
Since our founding in 1996 as an adoption outlet for Bartow County Animal Control, we have grown into a vital resource for our community. Operating from our Cartersville facility since 2006, we function as a private, non-profit 501(c)3 corporation that relies entirely on donations, membership fees, and fundraising rather than state or federal funding.
As a dedicated adoption and rescue shelter, we provide a safe harbor for animals pulled from the intake facility at Bartow County Animal Control. Our team of staff and passionate volunteers works tirelessly to ensure that our pets receive the medical care and socialization they need while they wait for their forever families. We are proud to maintain a near no-kill environment, ensuring each animal is treated with dignity and compassion.
Adopting a pet is a significant, joyful commitment, and we are here to support you at every step of your journey. By requiring an approved application and scheduled appointments, we ensure a personalized, one-on-one experience that helps you find the perfect match for your family's lifestyle. We believe that thoughtful matching creates lasting, loving partnerships between people and their new best friends.
Are you ready to welcome a new companion into your home? We invite you to browse our current list of adoptable pets online or fill out an application to start the process. Whether you adopt, volunteer, or donate, your support helps us continue our mission of providing second chances to animals who truly need them.
