At the Walker County Animal Shelter, our mission is to provide humane care for lost, abandoned, and unwanted animals. We are dedicated to placing every adoptable animal into a good, loving home while championing responsible guardianship for pets throughout our community.
Formed in late 2022 as part of the consolidated Walker County Animal Services department, we address animal-related issues with a focus on welfare, education, and professional care. We exist to serve as a vital resource for our neighbors, bridging the gap between animals in need and the families who can provide them with a fresh start.
Our shelter staff works tirelessly to provide a safe, nurturing environment for every companion animal in our care. We prioritize medical wellness, including deworming, vaccinations, and spay/neuter services, to ensure each animal is ready to transition successfully into a new household. Beyond our facility walls, we also partner with programs like Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet to help keep pets out of the shelter and connected to loving families.
Adoption is a joyful partnership that enriches both the pet and the person. When you choose to adopt from our shelter, you are not just gaining a companion; you are participating in a compassionate community effort to give deserving dogs and cats a second chance at happiness.
We invite you to discover the wonderful animals currently waiting for their forever homes.
