Humane Society of Forsyth County

Our Mission

The Humane Society of Forsyth County is a dedicated, adoption-guarantee facility committed to placing every cat and dog in our care into a loving forever home. We believe in promoting responsible pet ownership and kindness, ensuring every animal receives the care they deserve while waiting for their perfect family.

Our History and Community

Since 1975, we have been serving homeless animals in Forsyth County and the surrounding areas. As a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we are supported entirely by our programs, community donations, and private grants, allowing us to build a better, more compassionate community for everyone.

How We Care

We operate as a limited admission, no-kill facility, meaning we never euthanize an animal to manage space or time. During their stay, our residents receive quality shelter, food, veterinary care, and plenty of TLC from our dedicated team. Our environment is designed to ensure every pet remains physically and mentally healthy until they find their match.

Your Adoption Journey

Finding a new family member should be a joyful and stress-free adventure. Our team of experts works closely with you to understand your lifestyle and provide deep insights into each animal's personality, ensuring a lasting and happy partnership. Whether you are looking for a canine or feline companion, we are here to support you in making the perfect connection.

Get Involved

Ready to meet your new best friend? Visit us at our adoption center or browse our available animals online to start your journey today. We invite you to stay in touch by signing up for our mailing list, volunteering your time, or supporting our mission through donations as we continue to create second chances for animals in need.

7/10 - Forsyth County partnership helps pets stay with owners

Forsyth County organizations like the Humane Society and Animal Services provide free pet food to residents in need, helping prevent difficult choices between feeding pets or families and reducing pet surrenders. These efforts ease financial burdens and keep pets with their owners instead of shelters.

10/17 - How is Storm still waiting for his people?! 🖤 About a year and a half old, this handsome Boxer mix has the energy for your next adventure and plenty of love for the cuddle session afterward. He’s friendly, eager to please, and brings a big personality wherever he goes. Storm has completed his training with Rucker Dog Training, and his adopter receives lifetime Advanced Off-Leash classes to keep learning together! We think he could thrive in an active home with or without kids. Storm is selective with other dogs, so thoughtful introductions will be important—or a home where he’s the only dog could be a great fit! Ready to meet your adventure buddy? 10/9 - “Every day, Sierra walks to the window, looks out at the world, and waits. She doesn’t understand why everyone else gets to leave, or why her turn hasn't come yet.” 💔💔 Meet Sierra. At just two years old, this stunning buff-and-white girl has already seen the very worst of the world - and the very best of a mother's resilient heart. Not long ago, Sierra and her tiny, helpless babies were put on a euthanasia list simply because a shelter ran out of space. Through no fault of her own, her life was measured by a ticking clock. Miraculously, she was pulled from the brink just in time and placed into a foster home. And what a mother she was. While her own future was uncertain, Sierra poured every ounce of her soul into protecting and raising her five precious kittens. She watched proudly as they grew strong, and one by one she has watched every single one of them leave for their happily-ever-afters. Now, the nursery is quiet. The babies are gone. And Mama is left behind, wondering when it’s her turn to be someone’s whole world. Sierra is the shelter's longest resident, and her heart is heavy with the quiet confusion of a cat who has given everything and asks for so little in return. She doesn't want much - just a soft lap, a warm window to watch the birds, and a human to finally choose her and change her story forever. Age: 2 years old Personality: Incredibly sweet, deeply resilient, and ready to stop being the caretaker and finally be someone's pampered baby. Status: Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and desperately waiting for the family she has dreamed of. Are you the one who will walk through that door and tell Sierra she never has to wait by the window again? 📍 Humane Society of Forsyth County Address: 4440 Keith Bridge Rd, Cumming, GA 30041 Come meet Sierra TODAY when adoltions start at 1p.m. and show her what a forever love feels like. #hsfc #forsythpets #adoptlocal #catsofforsyth
