TLC Humane Society
Our Mission
TLC Humane Society provides compassionate care for dogs and cats by facilitating adoptions and promoting responsible pet ownership in our community. We are dedicated to enhancing the lives of animals through care, education, and the elimination of euthanasia in Lumpkin County and the surrounding North Georgia areas.
Our History and Purpose
Founded in 1977, TLC Humane Society has been saving lives for over 40 years as Dahlonega's only no-kill shelter. As a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we operate independently of government funding and national associations, relying entirely on the support and generosity of our community.
Our Facility and Care
Our shelter is located on 5.87 acres, featuring a thoughtfully designed environment for our animals. The grounds include dedicated spaces like The Ruff House and the Carver Canine Castle for dogs, alongside a cozy block house with specialized cat and kitten rooms. We also provide walking trails and dog parks, ensuring every animal enjoys a comfortable and enriching experience while waiting for their forever home.
Finding Your Perfect Companion
Adoption is a joyful, lifelong partnership, and we are here to ensure you find the right match for your lifestyle and home. Our dedicated team guides you through an intentional adoption process—including interviews and meet-and-greets—to support the long-term success and happiness of both you and your new pet.
