The Humane Society of Northwest Georgia is dedicated to creating a community where no healthy, adoptable pet is euthanized. We strive to serve the animals and citizens of our region through compassion, respect, and a commitment to humane care.
Founded in 1977 as the Dalton Humane Society, our organization has evolved significantly over the decades to better meet the needs of our community. Since moving into our current facility in 2019, we have expanded our capacity to care for and adopt out hundreds of dogs and cats each year.
As a volunteer-based organization, our shelter operates as a temporary safe haven for animals in need. We are committed to providing essential care, medical check-ups, and vaccinations for our residents, while also serving as a resource for local pet owners through our spay and neuter support programs.
We believe every animal deserves a loving, forever home, and we work hard to find the perfect match for both pets and their new families. Because we prioritize the specific behaviors and needs of each dog or cat, our dedicated volunteers carefully review applications to ensure a lasting, successful partnership. We encourage the entire family to participate in the adoption process, including bringing existing pets for a meet and greet.
Whether you are looking to provide a loving home to a new family member or wish to support us through volunteering or donations, you are helping us build a kinder world. We invite you to view our currently adoptable animals on our website or visit us during our tour hours to learn more about the wonderful pets waiting for their second chance. We look forward to meeting you and helping you find your new best friend.
