The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia is dedicated to helping animals and people live better together. Since 1913, we have been committed to advancing animal welfare through compassionate care and community connection.
Our journey began over a century ago with Hall County school teacher Bessie Bickers, who used her own retirement fund to create a safe haven for homeless animals. Today, we continue Miss Bessie’s vision at our facility on West Ridge Road in Gainesville, ensuring that her life’s work of creating a caring community lives on.
We provide a comprehensive approach to animal welfare, offering everything from shelter and placement of companion animals to affordable veterinary care via our Christian-David Healthy Pet Clinic. Our operations include foster care programs, community outreach, and humane education to support pets and their owners at every stage of their journey together.
When you adopt from us, you aren't just saving a life—you are creating space for us to help another animal in need, starting a positive ripple effect. We take pride in our thoughtful matching process, ensuring that every pet finds a home where they can truly thrive. Our team is here to support you in building a lifelong, loving bond with your new companion.
Ready to meet your new best friend? Our Adoption Center is open Tuesday through Sunday, and we invite you to stop by to visit with the wonderful animals currently waiting for their forever homes. You can also explore our upcoming events or reach out to our team to learn more about how you can get involved in our mission.
