Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter
Our Mission
The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter (NEGAS) is dedicated to placing homeless and relinquished animals into safe, caring, and loving forever homes. We strive to encourage responsible pet ownership while providing humane treatment and quality care to every animal that enters our facility.
Who We Are
Operating as a non-profit corporation, NEGAS serves Franklin and Hart Counties along with their incorporated cities. We provide vital sheltering services and act as a central hub for animals brought to us by law enforcement and community members, working tirelessly to support the needs of our local area.
How We Care
Our shelter is a physical facility located in Lavonia, where our dedicated team and veterinary staff provide daily care, medical attention, and essential vaccinations. We pride ourselves on working toward a no-kill standard, partnering with rescues across the eastern United States to ensure that our healthy and adoptable animals find the best possible outcomes. From the intake process to our community outreach programs, we remain focused on the health and welfare of every animal in our trust.
The Adopter Connection
Adding a new furry friend to your life is a wonderful journey, and we are here to make that connection as joyful and successful as possible. We encourage families to visit our Adoption Center, spend time with our animals in our play yard, and get to know their personalities before taking that special step. Our goal is to ensure each pet is matched with a home where they can truly thrive.
Join Our Community
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer your time, or donate to our cause, you are an essential part of our success. We invite you to meet our current residents, explore our website to fill out an adoption questionnaire, or contact us to learn more about how you can make a difference today.
