Gwinnett County Animal Control and Welfare
A Dedicated Commitment to Gwinnett’s Animals
At Gwinnett County Animal Welfare & Enforcement, our mission is to protect the health and safety of our community's residents and animals so that they can coexist harmoniously. Every animal in our care has a unique story, and we are dedicated to helping them find their next chapter in a loving forever home.
Our Role in the Community
Operating from the Bill Atkinson Animal Welfare Center, we serve as an open-admissions shelter, welcoming lost, stray, or surrendered animals from across the county. We strive to provide a safe, temporary environment for every animal, ensuring they receive the care and attention they deserve while they wait for their new families.
How We Provide Care
We combine on-site veterinary services with a robust network of foster caregivers and rescue partners to ensure every animal gets the help they need. From intake exams and spay/neuter services to behavioral enrichment, our team works to prepare animals for successful transitions. Our foster program is especially vital, providing a nurturing space for those who are too young, recovering from injury, or simply needing extra love to thrive.
Finding Your Perfect Match
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to help you find the right companion for your lifestyle. We encourage you to visit us to meet our adoptable pets in person, where you can bring your family and current pets to ensure a happy, lifelong connection. We believe that when you adopt, you are not just getting a pet—you are gaining a best friend.
