Humane Society of Walton County

Welcome to the Humane Society of Walton County (HSWC), where we believe every animal deserves a chance at a loving home. Our mission is to provide a sanctuary for underprivileged animals, ensuring they are placed into permanent, caring homes while supporting pet owners with vital resources, education, and spay/neuter services. Founded in 2023 by Miranda Poreba, the Humane Society of Walton County arose from a passionate need for enhanced support for pets and their people in Walton County. Working alongside devoted volunteers and seasoned shelter professionals, we established our adoption center in December 2023, partnering with Walton County Animal Control to help save the lives of countless animals. Our core values center on compassion and community involvement. We pride ourselves on operating as the only non-profit, brick-and-mortar animal shelter in Walton County, entirely funded by the generosity of our community without support from county, state, or national organizations. We are on a mission to partner effectively with Walton County Animal Control, aiming to transform our community into a no-kill haven for animals. At HSWC, we offer key programs and services, including a robust adoption program for homeless dogs and cats, a dedicated volunteer initiative, and our county-wide Community Cat program aimed at sterilizing and vaccinating strays. Our ultimate goal is clear: to increase the lifesaving capacity within Walton County and to expand our programs to better serve our community. If you're looking to make a difference, we invite you to get involved—whether by adopting a pet in need, volunteering your time, fostering animals, or donating to support our daily operations. Every contribution helps us build a better tomorrow for our furry friends. Join us in our efforts to help animals find their forever homes and to nurture community compassion for pets. Together, we can change lives! Visit us at our shelter located at 1520 Hwy 138, Monroe, GA 30655, or contact us at (770) 800-7387. We are open Tuesday to Friday from 12 PM to 6 PM and Saturday to Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM. Closed on Mondays.
