Humane Society for Greater Savannah
Better Lives for Pets and People
At the Humane Society for Greater Savannah (HSGS), our mission is simple: to better the lives of pets and people in our community. We are dedicated to creating a world where every pet is understood, valued, and cherished as a member of the family.
Our History and Our Mission
Founded by a group of passionate animal lovers in 1952, we have proudly served our region for decades as an independent, 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We receive no government funding, relying entirely on the generosity of private donors, grants, and the community to fuel our life-saving work.
A Commitment to Care
We operate as a no-kill managed admission shelter, ensuring that every animal in our care receives the time, attention, and medical support they need while they wait for their forever home. Our facility on Sallie Mood Drive serves as a hub of compassion, where we prioritize the well-being of every resident until they find the right family. From our high-quality spay/neuter services at Pet Fix Savannah to our daily shelter operations, we treat every outcome as a priority.
Finding Your Perfect Companion
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and our team is here to help you make a match that lasts a lifetime. Whether you are looking for a playful puppy or a calm, seasoned senior, we invite you to interact with our adoptable pets and experience their unique personalities firsthand. We provide post-adoption support and resources to ensure your new family member settles in beautifully.
