Effingham County Animal Shelter

Our Mission

At the Effingham County Animal Shelter, our mission is to promote responsible animal ownership, prevent the spread of animal disease, and protect both the public and our animals. We are dedicated to creating a safe, loving environment where pets and people can thrive together.

Serving Our Community

We believe that animal welfare is a shared challenge that requires the care and commitment of our entire community. While our current facility has served us well, we are excited for a full renovation in 2026, which will expand our capacity, modernize our veterinary capabilities, and improve the experience for every visitor.

How We Care

Our professionally trained staff works with compassion to ensure each animal receives the support they need on their journey to a forever home. Beyond our shelter walls, we empower our neighbors through initiatives like our Barn Cat program and partnerships with local rescues to provide fostering opportunities, ensuring that every animal gets the specialized care they deserve.

Finding Your Perfect Match

Every animal deserves a second chance, and by choosing adoption, you have the power to change a life forever. Adoption creates a transformative bond built on gratitude, trust, and unconditional love that enriches both the pet's life and your own. We are here to guide you through the process, ensuring that every adoption is a meaningful and successful start to a new chapter.
