At the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter, we are dedicated to improving the lives of animals and people in our community. We strive to shelter, heal, and rehome animals while inspiring compassion for all creatures.
Our Story
Our journey began in 2007, when a passionate group of teachers, students, and animal advocates united to replace an outdated pound with a facility that prioritized animal welfare. After years of dedicated planning and fundraising, our current shelter opened its doors in 2013. Today, we continue to thrive through a vital partnership between the city, the county, and the generous support of our community.
How We Help
As an open intake shelter, we provide a safe harbor for stray animals from our area, ensuring every animal receives care and a chance at a new beginning. Our team works tirelessly to provide medical attention, nutrition, and comfort to those in our care. By advocating for animals and working to reduce overpopulation, we focus on creating a kinder, more compassionate future for every pet that comes through our doors.
