The Humane Society of Valdosta/Lowndes County is dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership by teaching compassion, respect, and caring treatment for all animals. Our motto, We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, guides our commitment to improving lives through rescue, education, and advocacy.
Since our founding in 1989, we have served as a local, private non-profit organization focused on making a real difference. We are not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States or local government, relying entirely on your generous donations, membership fees, and grants to drive our life-saving work.
Our ultimate goal is to achieve No Kill status for our community by providing essential resources for homeless pets. We actively work to reduce overpopulation through low-cost spay/neuter programs, vaccine clinics, and transport services. By pulling animals from the shelter and providing them with the necessary vetting, we create a safer path toward their forever homes.
Adopting from us is a joyful partnership that directly saves lives and allows us to open our doors to even more animals in need. We prioritize thoughtful matches through a committee-led application process and personal meet-and-greets to ensure every pet finds the perfect, loving family. Every animal in our care receives complete vetting, including spaying or neutering and microchipping, so you can focus on building a beautiful life together.
We invite you to explore our available adoptables and see which furry friend is waiting to meet you! If you are ready to make an impact, please visit our website to fill out an online application or contact us to schedule a visit to our facility on W. Gordon St. Together, we can build a kinder, more compassionate community for every animal.
