Mountain Humane

Our Mission

At Mountain Humane, we are dedicated to saving animals and changing lives. Every day, we strive to create new, hopeful possibilities for the homeless animals in our community.

A Legacy of Care

With 50 years of experience, we have evolved from our roots as the Animal Shelter of Wood River Valley into a comprehensive community pet support center. While we still provide a safe haven for animals, our work now spans far beyond traditional shelter services to keep families together and pets thriving.

How We Help

Our modern animal welfare campus is designed to optimize care, providing ample kennel space and a supportive environment for animals in transition. For those who need extra comfort, we coordinate a dedicated foster network to ensure our most vulnerable residents—including stressed or very young animals—receive the personalized attention they need while awaiting their forever homes.

A Partner in Your Journey

We believe that second chances are the name of the game, and we are proud to support every adoption to ensure each pet and family can thrive together. Our team provides industry-leading veterinary care and behavior resources to ensure you feel prepared and empowered as a new pet owner. We focus on building lasting, happy partnerships, because every animal deserves a home where they are truly cherished.

Join Our Community

We invite you to meet your new best friend by exploring our adoptable pets online or visiting our Hailey campus, Tuesday through Saturday. Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or simply learn more about our services, we are here to help. Reach out to us today at 208-788-4351 or email adoptions@mountainhumane.org to start your journey with us.

9/21 - Foster Hero Needed: Boo Boo & Yogi These bonded brothers need a break from the shelter! Boo Boo is timid but curious — sit patiently, and he'll come settle in right beside you. Yogi is gaining confidence daily and keeps watch over his brother, usually being the first to approach and give his seal of approval. Both do best with a slow, low-pressure introduction, so a foster home means exactly the time and space they need. They can be fostered together or separately — but this bonded pair will need to be adopted together into the same forever home. Could you be their foster hero? Reach out today!
