Snake River Animal Shelter

Our Mission

Snake River Animal Shelter is dedicated to improving and saving animal lives by promoting quality care and compassion through adoption and humane education. We strive to be the leading resource for animal welfare in East Idaho.

Our History and Purpose

Located on the beautiful banks of the Snake River in Idaho Falls, we serve as the only no-kill, non-profit animal sheltering facility for the entire region. We were established to address the critical community need for humane treatment education and to implement innovative programs that help alleviate the challenges faced by unwanted domestic animals.

How We Care for Our Animals

As a no-kill shelter, we provide every animal in our care an unlimited length of stay while we work diligently to find them their perfect match. Our facility serves as a safe haven where pets receive high-quality care, medical attention from our shelter veterinarian, and the love they deserve until they find their forever homes. Our dedicated team of professionals and volunteers ensures that every creature is treated with the kindness and respect they need to thrive.

Creating Joyful Partnerships

We believe that successful adoptions are built on thoughtful connections. Our staff is committed to helping you select the perfect companion, whether you are looking for a playful dog or a feline friend, by guiding you through a personalized meet-and-greet process. By involving your family and other pets in the selection, we ensure that every adoption is a lasting, positive experience for both the animal and your home.

Join Us in Saving Lives

You can make a difference in the lives of our animals today. We invite you to visit our facility on Lindsay Boulevard to meet our adoptable pets or explore our website to see who is waiting for their new family. Whether you choose to adopt, volunteer, or support our programs, there is no success at our shelter without your compassionate involvement.
