Founded in 1978, the Humane Society of the Palouse is dedicated to helping those who cannot help themselves. We strive to ensure the humane treatment, welfare, and safety of companion animals throughout Moscow and Latah County.
For over 45 years, we have been a cornerstone of our local pet community, working hand-in-hand with the City of Moscow to provide a safe haven for animals in need. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that believes in giving second chances to pets through preventive care, lifesaving surgeries, and community education.
As a no-kill, limited-admission shelter, we are committed to providing the highest level of care during an animal's stay. We strictly adhere to the Five Freedoms to ensure every pet in our facility receives the nutrition, comfort, medical treatment, and enrichment they deserve. Our dedicated staff monitors each animal individually to address their unique mental and physical needs while they wait for their forever home.
We believe that successful adoptions are built on thoughtful, personal matches between our animals and their new families. Our adoption process is designed to help you, your household, and your current pets find the perfect companion, ensuring a lifetime of happiness. We provide transparency about each animal’s history and needs so you can feel confident and prepared when you take your new friend home.
Are you ready to find your new best friend? We invite you to view our adoptable pets online or visit us at our facility on E. White Ave in Moscow. Whether you are looking to adopt, donate, or get involved, you are helping us create a better world for our animal companions.
