The Bannock Humane Society is dedicated to fostering animals until they find their perfect permanent homes, reducing pet overpopulation through spay and neuter services, and providing essential support to companion animals in need. We are committed to educating our community about responsible pet ownership and ensuring every animal receives the compassionate care they deserve.
Established as an Idaho corporation in 1971, the Bannock Humane Society is a non-profit organization sustained entirely by private donations and the dedicated efforts of our members. With no paid employees and no government funding, every contribution goes directly toward the welfare of the animals we serve. We operate from our building at 850 Barton Road in Pocatello, which was constructed in 2001 with the generous support of our community.
We believe the best environment for a rescue animal is a loving home. Because we do not keep animals at our building, we rely on a robust network of volunteer foster families to provide a safe, temporary sanctuary for homeless cats and dogs. By partnering with local Pocatello veterinarians, we ensure each of our foster animals receives necessary medical treatments, vaccinations, and spay or neuter surgeries before they find their forever families.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we take great care to match each pet with a family that can meet their long-term health and emotional needs. Whether you choose to open your home to a foster animal, support our clinics, or become a member, you are directly participating in a life-saving mission. We encourage potential adopters to meet our pets at our monthly Adoption Days and talk with our foster parents to find the perfect companion.
