Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS) is a dedicated not-for-profit, no-kill animal welfare organization committed to rescuing and rehoming homeless and unwanted animals. We believe that while saving one dog may not change the whole world, for that one dog, the world changes forever.
Founded to address the rising population of dogs and cats in the Union County, Illinois area, PAWS was created to prevent the destruction of valuable, adoptable animals. We operate solely through the generosity of our community, relying on donations and fundraisers to fuel our life-saving mission.
Our team works tirelessly to provide shelter, veterinary care, and rehabilitation for animals that have often faced difficult pasts. Whether it is addressing medical needs, offering social support, or helping shy pets build confidence, our focus is always on the health and long-term well-being of every animal in our care.
We believe in building lifelong partnerships between our rescues and their new families through a thoughtful, transparent adoption process. By getting to know each animal's unique personality—from their energy levels to their specific social needs—we ensure that our pets find a home where they can truly thrive.
Are you ready to welcome a new companion into your life? We invite you to visit pawspaws.org to view our available pets and complete an adoption application. Your support and interest change lives, and we look forward to helping you find your new best friend.
