Harmony House for Cats is a non-profit, no-kill rescue dedicated to saving lives and finding loving homes for cats in Chicago and Cook County. We strive to provide a nurturing environment where every cat can thrive while waiting to meet their forever family.
Our Journey
Founded in 1970 as the Animal Protective Association, we have spent over five decades committed to the well-being of cats. In 1988, we adopted the name Harmony House for Cats to better reflect our philosophy of communal care and the peaceful, nurturing environment we provide for every resident.

Our commitment to excellence led us to open our state-of-the-art, cageless adoption center in 2012. This platinum LEED-certified facility is designed to prioritize cat comfort, featuring natural light, landscaped courtyards, and specialized rooms for medical care and socialization. By focusing on green building standards, we ensure a healthier, safer, and more sustainable home for our cats as they await adoption.
