West Suburban Humane Society
Our Mission
At the West Suburban Humane Society, we work toward the day when all dogs and cats are loved and cared for, ensuring pet owners have access to the resources needed for a fulfilling relationship with their pets. By working together, we change the lives of the animals that have forever changed us.
Our Story
Founded in 1972, our organization began as a small, volunteer-based lost-and-found referral service. Over the decades, our passion for animal welfare fueled our growth, allowing us to evolve from a small storefront to our current, highly visible, and accessible facility in Downers Grove.
How We Care
As a 98% save-rate, no-kill organization, we provide compassionate, comprehensive medical care for every animal that enters our shelter. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers works tirelessly to ensure that pets, whether they are in our shelter or thriving in one of our foster homes, receive the specialized attention and treatment they need to live healthy, happy lives.
