The Henry County Humane Society in Geneseo serves as a passionate advocate for companion animals by providing quality care, promoting responsible ownership, and connecting animals with their forever homes.
Established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we are a no-kill animal shelter dedicated to serving our community in Geneseo, Illinois. For over 50 years, we have been a place where compassion is alive and well, working to ensure every animal we rescue receives the love and second chances they deserve.
We are a shelter-based organization funded entirely by the generosity of our supporters and the efforts of our dedicated volunteers. Our team—comprised of a shelter manager, part-time staff, and a growing group of volunteers—works hard to keep our facility clean, safe, and enriching for all animals in our care. We also rely on a wonderful network of foster heroes who provide temporary, loving homes for pets that need extra support or a quiet environment to thrive.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are committed to ensuring every animal is placed in a home that suits their unique needs. We prioritize thoughtful, transparent matching processes to ensure the health and well-being of every pet, including comprehensive veterinary care, spay/neuter services, and vaccinations prior to adoption.
Whether you are looking to adopt a new family member, volunteer your time, or support us through a donation, you are an essential part of our community. We invite you to explore our adoptable animals, check out our upcoming events, or contact us at 309-944-4868 to learn more about how you can become their hope, their future, and their way home.
