Save-A-Pet Inc. is dedicated to giving rescued dogs and cats a second chance at life. We operate under the core mantra of Help, Heal, Home, working tirelessly to ensure every animal we rescue finds a loving, forever family.
A Legacy of Compassion
For over 54 years, we have served as one of Lake County’s largest no-kill cat and dog rescues. Since our founding, we have successfully rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed more than 68,000 animals, providing a safe haven for those who are injured, lost, or in need of a fresh start.
Our Commitment to Care
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, we provide high-quality care within our full-time adoption center and through a dedicated network of foster homes. We believe in providing every animal with the medical and emotional support they need to thrive, utilizing a team of veterinarians, behaviorists, and specialists to tailor care to each unique resident. We never put a limit on the care we provide, because we never give up on an animal.

10/12 - Baked Potato was only with us for a short amount of time and passed away peacefully in one of our foster homes. One of our staff members wrote this beautiful tribute...it embodies our mission through everything that our staff does for all our cats and dogs every single day of the year! "We don't know what the first 3-4 years of Baked Potato's were like, we only know about the last few days ... The last few days were full of love, treats, care, compassion, attention, hugs and kisses ... Everyone who saw her stopped to give her love ... For the last few days, all she knew was love ... She knew the love of a dedicated staff that did everything they could for her and a foster family that fell in love at first sight ... May we all (pets and humans) experience the love and dedication that showered Baked Potato her last few days in this world... Sleep well sweet girl ... You were very much loved and wanted."

10/12 - As a no-kill organization, we have some cats that are extremely shy of people....but the one thing that they all have in common is that they love other cats. Leaf and B2 are a couple of them. They make great companions for other cats. Yes it is easy to adopt kittens and people-friendly cats but these special cats are also all deserving of a home. 10/2 - Yep, it's me again, Tractor Supply! With all the rain yesterday, I didn't feel like doing too much and this big bed was just perfect to relax. Every day, staff and volunteers keep the washer and dryer working so all of us can have some soft blankets to wrap ourselves in and dream of the day we are going to get adopted. We would also like to give kudos to two volunteers, Debbie and Nancy, nicknamed the "Laundry Queens", because they come in several days a week and keep the washer and dryer working non-stop! #laundryday 🐾#PetComfort 🦊🐶#thankyou 💝💞
