Iroquois County Animal Rescue (ICARe) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to alleviating the suffering of domestic animals by providing essential care, medical treatment, and loving placements in forever homes.
Our Roots in the Community
Founded in 2008 following the devastating floods in Watseka, Illinois, we expanded our mission to serve the entirety of Iroquois County. Today, we operate as a private, no-kill facility that relies entirely on the generosity of our community, receiving no state or local government funding.
A Different Kind of Shelter
We pride ourselves on an experience that is anything but depressing; our facility is an open, welcoming environment designed to prioritize the well-being of our feline residents. At least 80% of our cats are free-roaming, enjoying amenities like catios, climbing towers, and shelves that keep them socialized, affectionate, and happy. While our cats reside at our Iroquois facility, our dogs are cared for through a dedicated foster network or our new kennel facility, ensuring every animal receives individual attention.

Our volunteer staff is deeply experienced in feline behavior and dedicated to finding the perfect match for every family. We believe that thoughtful, personalized adoptions create lasting bonds, and we provide extensive support to ensure each transition is successful and joyful for both the pet and the adopter.
