Iroquois County Animal Rescue (ICARe) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating the suffering of domestic animals by providing essential care and finding them loving, permanent homes. We are committed to controlling animal over-population through affordable spay/neuter services and promoting the welfare of pets throughout our community.
Founded in 2008 following the displacement of domestic animals during the Watseka floods, ICARe has grown into a vital resource for Iroquois County. Since 2010, we have operated out of our dedicated facility in Iroquois, IL, where we focus on providing a safe haven for those in need while advocating for the humane treatment of all animals.
Our approach to feline care is truly unique. At least 80% of our adoptable cats live in an open, free-roaming environment designed with catios, climbing shelves, and towers to keep them mentally and physically stimulated. By choosing a volunteer-run, no-kill model, we ensure our residents are well-socialized, affectionate, and ready to become a cherished member of your family.
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership, which is why our experienced staff works closely with every visitor to ensure a thoughtful match. Whether you are looking for a playful kitten or a seasoned senior cat, our team provides the support and guidance needed to ensure a healthy and happy transition. By adopting from ICARe, you are not just getting a pet; you are giving a deserving animal a second chance at a wonderful life.
We invite you to visit our shelter on weekends or schedule an appointment to meet our adoptable residents. You can view all of our dogs and cats waiting for their forever homes on our website or social media pages. Please reach out via our contact form or call us at 815-429-4028 to learn more about how you can support our mission, volunteer your time, or adopt your new best friend today.
