Feral Fixers, NFP

Our Mission

Feral Fixers is dedicated to humanely reducing the cat overpopulation in DuPage County, Illinois, through the high-volume use of low-cost or free spay and neuter services. We strive to improve the quality of life for both cats and humans by providing care and support for feral, semi-feral, stray, and domestic cats.

Why We Do It

Since 2007, we have worked to provide a long-term, sustainable solution to cat homelessness in our community. By promoting and practicing Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), we help stabilize local cat populations and offer a compassionate alternative to ineffective traditional methods. We believe every cat deserves a chance at a healthy life, whether they are living in a managed colony or finding their way into a loving indoor home.

Our Care Model

While our focus is on TNR, we are deeply committed to the friendly cats and socializable kittens we encounter during our work. These cats are brought into our foster network or our facility in Lombard, where they are nurtured and prepared for life indoors. Our dedicated volunteers provide the social interaction, medical attention, and patience these animals need to thrive before they meet their new families.

A Meaningful Match

We believe in setting our animals and adopters up for long-term success. Because kittens are social animals, we prioritize adopting them in pairs to ensure their development is supported by a feline companion. By reviewing each adoption questionnaire carefully, our Adoption Coordinator helps ensure that every animal finds a home that perfectly matches their unique personality and needs.

10/7 - Finally for all those following the story of Courtney and her babies, they are doing well so far! Moms and babies do great in foster homes as well but we don't have any fosters available for this particular need right now. Again....FOSTERS NEEDED or please adopt because adoption frees up space in our foster homes! Courtney and her babies (if Courtney can be fully socialized) won't be up for adoption until December.

10/6 - Lots of updates on our TNR operations and upcoming events but what are we up to in our Cats in Transition program???? Kittens, kittens everywhere kittens!!! We have some kittens who are ready for adoption who are hanging out in our "kitten chaos" room. You can make an appointment to visit these kittens if you are an approved adopter. These kittens are tons of fun and are loving a new "cat tree" made by one of our volunteers but they would really love to find their forever homes! If you want to meet one of these kittens or check out our other adoptable cats and kittens please visit https://www.feralfixers.org/want-to-adopt

10/6 - The purpose of our Cats in Transition program is to get cats and kittens healthy and start the socialization process so they can move to foster homes. We have many younger kittens who need to transition out of our in-house program and into foster homes but we are in need of fosters!!! You provide the safe space and love and we provide the supplies and all medical care until they are adopted! We have a mom with neonates and many 8-12 week old kittens who would thrive in homes! Who doesn’t love some cute cuddly kittens!!! Links in the bio link tree 🌳

10/2 - An entire neighborhood knew this cat was pregnant for WEEKS but failed to tell us when she was trapped. This happened within hours of her coming to our building. We do not wish ill upon these kittens, far from it, but where were these people 9 weeks ago when they could have been prevented? Mom cat in a crate, forced to care for these kittens til they are at least 6 weeks old and eating on their own. Then another 4 - 5 weeks before s/n and even longer before adoption can happen. Much more could be said, but.... Every cat has a story and we continue to make those stories positive ones! As Many As Possible As Soon As Possible
