Quad City Animal Welfare Center
Saving Lives Since 1977
The Quad City Animal Welfare Center is dedicated to operating a shelter for homeless animals, providing low-cost spay and neuter services, and fostering humane education throughout the Quad-Cities area. We have been saving animals one life at a time for nearly five decades, committed to providing every pet in our care with a safe, compassionate environment.
Our History and Mission
Founded in 1977 as the Humane Society of Rock Island County, we are proud to be the first and only no-kill shelter in the Quad Cities. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters to continue our mission, as we do not receive state or local tax funding. Our expansion over the years, including the addition of our specialized Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic in 2016, ensures we can meet the growing demand for vital veterinary services.
How We Care for Our Animals
Our Adoption & Education Center in Milan provides a dedicated facility where our adoptable cats, dogs, and small animals live while waiting for their forever homes. We take great pride in our high-quality veterinary care, ensuring that every animal is examined, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered before adoption. Through our clinic, we also support the community by performing thousands of surgeries annually and hosting drive-up wellness clinics to help keep beloved pets healthy.
