Second City Canine Rescue is dedicated to rescuing homeless animals and responsibly placing them into permanent, loving homes. We believe in Rescuing Responsibly, ensuring every dog receives the care and attention they deserve on their journey to a forever family.
Founded in 2011, our 501(c)(3) non-profit serves the homeless dogs of Chicagoland and beyond. We are committed to being a voice for the voiceless, standing up for dogs who cannot speak for themselves through compassionate advocacy and honest stewardship.
We are a largely volunteer-operated organization that relies on a network of foster homes to provide a safe, nurturing environment for our dogs. While most of our dogs thrive in foster care, we also operate an innovative Adoption Center in Palatine, IL, which provides a home-like environment for litters of puppies. This blend of foster care and a dedicated center allows us to get to know each dog individually before they find their perfect match.
Adoption is just the beginning of a beautiful journey, and we are here to support you every step of the way. We take the time to temperament test our dogs and facilitate thoughtful matches, ensuring that your new family member is the right fit for your lifestyle. Our team offers post-adoption support and resources, including training recommendations, because we are committed to the long-term success of your partnership.
Ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to explore our list of adoptable dogs on our website or visit us at one of our upcoming adoption events. Whether you are ready to adopt, foster, or volunteer, there are many ways to get involved and make a lasting difference in a dog's life.
