Almost Home Foundation

Our Mission

Almost Home Foundation is dedicated to saving stray, neglected, and abandoned animals, providing them with a second chance at a happy life. We are committed to reducing the number of homeless pets through a compassionate, responsible adoption program.

Our Story

Founded in 2005 by five passionate animal lovers, our organization has grown into an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit. While our board has evolved over the years, our core vision of making a tangible difference for animals in need remains steadfast.

How We Help

As a no-kill rescue, we rely on a dedicated network of foster homes and our facility in Schaumburg to provide a safe, loving environment for our animals. We rescue pets of all breeds and ages, including those from high-kill shelters who need us most, covering their medical and nutritional needs until they find their permanent families.

The Joy of Adoption

We believe in finding the perfect match for both the animal and the family. Through careful temperament evaluations and thoughtful counseling, we work to ensure that every adoption is a lifelong, loving partnership. Our focus is on the long-term well-being of the pets entrusted to our care.

Join Us

Whether you are looking to bring a new companion into your home, interested in becoming a foster, or wishing to volunteer your time, there are many ways to get involved. We invite you to browse our current list of available dogs and cats or contact us to start your journey today. They exist in the shadows of our society. Here are some of the lucky ones who made it out. We obviously fell in love with all of them! Please consider adopting a pet first before buying from a breeder or pet store. So many in need of homes . . . . #rescueddogs #2ndchances #newbeginings #savealifeadopt #adoptdontshop

9/20 - When you are a little survivor and you got to arrive to AHF in style! Kemari was a stray found in horrific shape: severely matted, filthy, nails horribly overgrown, and suffering from a serious eye injury. 😔Our rescue partners found her just in the nick of time. She could barely walk due to the shape she was in. She likely didn’t have much time left. Once she was shaved down and cleaned up, Kemari had to learn to walk properly again. Her left eye had to be removed due to the severity of the injury. Despite all she has been through, this little 8-year-old, 6-lb survivor has transformed into the sweetest pup! She is thriving now! In her temporary home down south, she fit right in with her foster’s pack. And like most happy dogs, she loves food and treats! Since being found, she has gained almost 3 lbs. She currently getting spoiled in a foster home here, while waiting for a forever home! (See last picture) If interested in adopting this little sweetheart please fill out an application! She’s waiting for you! . . . #survivor #2ndchances #rescued #adoptme #adoptdontshop
