The Kankakee County Humane Foundation is a community-focused organization dedicated to serving animals in need and advocating for their humane care. We believe in a future where animal rights are a priority and every pet has a safe, loving home.
Since 1963, we have been working to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome unwanted, neglected, and abandoned dogs and cats. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we are entirely dependent on memberships and private donations to sustain our life-saving work.
We provide a unique, collaborative approach to animal welfare. While our dogs reside at our original facility in St. Anne, we have partnered with the Sunrise Center Animal Rescue in Kankakee to provide a dedicated, all-feline environment for our cats. This partnership allows us to offer enhanced services, including affordable wellness veterinary care for the public, such as vaccines, microchipping, and spay/neuter days.
Adopting a pet is a joyful, lifelong partnership, and we are here to ensure the perfect fit. Our adoption process includes an application, background check, and reference validation to help us place animals in the safest, most supportive homes. Whether it is a kitten, a senior cat, or a dog, we are committed to setting you and your new companion up for success.
Ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our adoptable animals online or visit us during our scheduled public hours. If now is not the right time to adopt, you can still make a meaningful difference by volunteering, fostering, or contributing to our mission through a donation. We look forward to welcoming you into our community of animal advocates!
