The Animal Protection League, Inc. exists to make second chances possible through the human/animal connection. We strive to provide a compassionate, humane community for our animals while celebrating the profound bond that enriches our lives.
Founded in 2003, we began with a goal to raise awareness regarding animal care and cruelty. In 2011, we expanded our impact by entering a partnership with the City of Anderson to manage the operations of its animal shelter, allowing us to serve our community and protect homeless animals more effectively than ever before.
As an open-admission shelter, we provide care for thousands of animals each year, relying on a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Beyond shelter operations, we are proud to support various outreach initiatives, including our signature prison programs like FIDO and the 9 Lives Cat program, which help both animals and inmates.
Adoption is a beautiful, lifelong commitment, and we are here to help you find the perfect companion for your home. Our team works hard to understand the personality and needs of each animal, ensuring that every match is a thoughtful, positive step toward a brighter future for both you and your new pet.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or simply learn more, we invite you to be part of our community. Browse our list of adoptable dogs and cats, or visit us in Anderson to meet your new best friend today!
