At the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County, our mission is to provide compassionate care to all animals in our community. We are dedicated to ensuring every animal receives the support they need while we work to find them their perfect forever home.
Our Story
Founded in 1973, we have grown from modest beginnings into a dedicated advocate for local pets. After forty years of service, our community came together in 2016 through a successful capital campaign to build our modern, climate-controlled facility. Since our grand opening in 2017, this safe environment has allowed us to serve our growing community with the highest standards of care.
Providing a Fresh Start
Each year, we welcome over 2,000 animals who arrive at our shelter needing a little extra help. We are committed to a high standard of wellness; every adopted pet leaves our care spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and ready to start their new chapter. Our facility is designed to reduce the spread of disease and provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for every cat and dog in our care.
