At the Vanderburgh Humane Society, we are dedicated to leading our community in eliminating pet overpopulation through spay and neuter services, compassionate adoption, and humane education. We believe in a future where all companion animals are treated with the love and respect they deserve.
Founded in 1957, we have served the Tri-State area for over 65 years, working tirelessly to provide protection for homeless animals and support for those in need. As a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that receives no tax-based government funding, we rely entirely on the generosity of our community to sustain our lifesaving programs. Our facility at 400 Millner Industrial Drive serves as the heart of our mission, providing a safe, temporary home for animals awaiting their forever families.
We operate an open-admission shelter where every animal in our care receives professional medical attention and a high standard of care. Our campus includes the Davidson-Rausch Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic, which has provided more than 110,000 surgeries to prevent unwanted litters and promote animal health. From our dedicated staff to our volunteers, we work together to ensure every resident receives the attention they need until they are ready to go home.
Adoption is a life-changing commitment, and our goal is to create the perfect match for you and your new companion. Our trained Adoption Counselors are here to guide you, helping to identify which pets are best suited for your unique lifestyle and personality. By taking the time to understand both the animal and the adopter, we ensure that every adoption is the start of a wonderful, lifelong friendship.
Are you ready to find your new best friend? We invite you to browse our adoptable dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals online or visit us in person to experience the joy of meeting them yourself. Whether you adopt, volunteer, or support our programs, you are a vital part of our lifesaving work.
