Humane Fort Wayne
Love, Unleashed
Humane Fort Wayne serves as Northeast Indiana’s hub for pets and the people who love them, working tirelessly to promote the happiness and well-being of our animal friends. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive, lifesaving resources to ensure every pet finds and keeps their forever home.
Our Story
For more than 65 years, we have served as a leading community resource, evolving to meet the needs of our local animals. On January 1, 2021, the Allen County SPCA and H.O.P.E. for Animals united to create a positive, powerful force for animal welfare in northeastern Indiana.
Compassionate Care
As a 100% donor-funded, no-kill shelter, we operate with a commitment to excellence, never settling for good enough. Our staff utilizes specialized, fear-free techniques—including Dogs Playing for Life and the Jackson Galaxy Cat Pawsitive program—to ensure every animal receives the medical, behavioral, and emotional support they need to thrive. Beyond the shelter, we offer affordable veterinary wellness services and community outreach programs to keep pets healthy and in their homes.

Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to support you every step of the way. We take the time to conduct behavioral assessments and provide personalized care, ensuring we match you with a companion who fits your unique lifestyle. Because we prioritize the success of every adoption, we offer extensive resources and support to help you and your new family member build a lasting bond.

10/8 - The forest was calling and guess who answered? Frieda! Welcome to Episode 11 of Frieda Goes to the Forest where this seven-year-old Belgian Tervuren mix takes a break from her “apartment” at @humanefortwayne and explores @fidosforest, a magical five-acre private, secured dog forest in Fort Wayne, Ind. Two questions she came to the forest with this week: 1) Where are those chipmunks? Although she stuck her nose in their home, even pawed at their door, their log was empty. (Phew!) 2) More importantly, why hasn’t anybody adopted me yet? It’s truly the million dollar question, given the following: ✅ She’s a looker! ✅ Exercise is her jam. Active humans, take note! ✅ She loves being mentally challenged. ✅ Did somebody say car ride? Frieda rides like a pro, especially if the windows are cracked and the wind blows on her face. ✅ She keeps a tidy apartment. ✅ She’ll work for treats, pup cups included! Thanks for watching! Please help us get more eyes on this girl by sharing her. And if you’re interested in adopting this sweet girl who does require being your only canine kid, visit humanefw.org. Will this series continue? It’s a question I ask every week. Stay tuned. And thank you, Fido’s, for sponsoring this show! #adoptabledog #adoptthisdog #belgiantervuren #shelterdogsrock #shelterdog
