Humane Society Northwest Indiana

Our Mission

The Humane Society of Northwest Indiana is dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals in our area by providing a welcoming shelter environment, supporting spay and neuter efforts, and finding the perfect forever homes for our residents.

Our Commitment to Community

We believe that helping vulnerable animals and keeping pets in safe, loving homes requires a commitment from all of us. By working together under a common cause, we are saving lives and ensuring that at-risk animals receive the protection, care, and compassion they truly deserve.

How We Care for Our Animals

Operating from our facility in Gary, we focus on providing a safe, temporary haven for dogs and cats as they await their new beginnings. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work daily to maintain our facility and ensure every resident receives the attention, play, and care they need to thrive. We rely on the generous support of our community to keep our shelter operating and our animals healthy and safe.

Finding Your Perfect Companion

Adoption is a joyful journey, and we are here to help you find your new furry best friend. We encourage you to visit our website to browse our available animals through 24PETconnect or Petfinder, where you can read about the unique personalities waiting to meet you. We believe in thoughtful matching, ensuring that each animal finds a home that is just right for their needs and yours.
