Putnam County Animal Care and Control
Our Mission
For over twenty years, the Humane Society of Putnam County has been dedicated to the rehabilitation and placement of abandoned or unwanted animals into loving, forever homes. We strive to benefit our community by ensuring every animal in our care receives the medical attention and compassion they deserve.
Our Story
Born from a community need in 1986 and opening our first shelter doors in 1993, we have worked tirelessly to serve the people and pets of Putnam County. While we have faced challenges along the way, our partnership with Putnam County Animal Care and Control has allowed us to create a sustainable future where we can focus on what matters most: saving lives.
How We Care
Our shelter acts as a safe haven where animals receive comprehensive care, including spay/neuter services, micro-chipping, and essential vaccinations. By working closely with our dedicated board, volunteers, and the supporters of our Rescued Treasures thrift store, we ensure each animal is healthy and behaviorally prepared for their next chapter.
Your New Best Friend
We believe that adoption is a joyful, lifelong partnership. Because we are committed to the wellbeing of our animals, our adoption process is designed to ensure the best possible match for both the pet and your family. We provide you with all necessary health records, transition food, and helpful tips for a smooth arrival home, and we promise to always welcome our pets back if your life circumstances change.
