The Parke-Vermillion County Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the humane treatment of animals, the prevention of cruelty, and the importance of population control through spaying and neutering. We are committed to providing love, care, and compassion to every animal that enters our facility.
Founded in 1991 after a community call to action, we have spent over 20 years serving the Tri-State area. With the support of dedicated residents and a foundational grant from the Lilly Endowment, our shelter opened its doors in 2000, turning a grassroots vision into a reality for homeless animals in Parke and Vermillion Counties.
Our facility acts as a safe haven where homeless animals receive top-notch medical care and plenty of affection from our team while they wait for their forever homes. As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, we rely on the generous support of our community to fund the daily operations and long-term care of the hundreds of animals we welcome each year.
You can't buy love, but you can adopt it! When you choose to adopt, you are giving a safe, loving home to an animal that may have never known that kindness before. Our adoption process is designed to ensure a successful match, where you might just find a companion you least expected, creating a joyful, lasting partnership.
We invite you to experience the difference our team makes by visiting our shelter in Hillsdale, Indiana, where we are open Tuesday through Saturday to help you meet your new furry family member. Whether you are looking to adopt or simply want to stay in the loop, we encourage you to browse our available pets or reach out to our staff today to begin your journey.
