The Huntington County Humane Society is dedicated to protecting and providing shelter for animals, while actively encouraging their humane treatment through advocacy and education. We strive to build a community where every animal is valued as a lifelong family member, treated with kindness and respect.
Since 1972, we have served the entirety of Huntington County, Indiana. As a private, independent 501(c)3 organization, we rely on the tremendous generosity of our community and our programs to carry out our work.
We provide a safe haven for homeless animals, primarily dogs and cats, while offering temporary care for other small pets and farm animals in need. Through our shelter facility, we offer a range of essential services including medical care, vaccinations, and behavioral support. Our work is furthered by community initiatives like the STAY Pet Retention Program and the Prevent-a-Litter (PAL) program, which ensure pets remain happy and healthy in their own homes.
We believe in building positive, lasting relationships between pets and their future families. Our adoption process is designed to ensure the most suitable match for both the animal and the household, as we work to find perfect, loving forever homes for every resident in our care.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or provide a foster home, there are many ways to make a difference. We invite you to view our currently available pets online or visit us at 390 Thurman Poe Way during our business hours to meet your new family member. Together, we can save lives and enhance the well-being of animals in our community.
