The Greene County Humane Society is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for lost, stray, and unwanted animals in Greene County, Indiana. We work every day to ensure that every animal in our care receives the love and support they need while they wait for their forever homes.
Since our incorporation in 1984, we have evolved to meet the changing needs of our community, driven by a commitment to modernize our approach and expand our reach. Today, we are proud to operate as a no-kill facility, focusing our energy on re-homing every animal possible through preparation, vetting, and dedicated care.
Our shelter in Linton is designed to be a comfortable, stimulating space for our residents. Our adoptable dogs enjoy daily leash walks and time in large, fenced-in yards, while our cats benefit from an enriched play room designed for social interaction and exercise. We also operate the Fix ‘n’ Friends clinic, providing affordable spay, neuter, and wellness services to keep pets healthy and families supported throughout our community.
We believe that finding your perfect match is a joyful experience, and our staff is here to guide you through every step of the adoption process. By getting to know each individual animal's personality, we help create lasting bonds that enrich both your life and the lives of our rescue pets.
We invite you to be part of our mission! Whether you are looking to adopt a new companion, volunteer your time on our beautiful Waggin’ Tails Trail, or support our new building campaign, there are so many ways to help.
