Our mission is to provide shelter and comfort to animals in need on their path to loving lifetime homes, while offering vital animal-related services to our community. We are dedicated to ensuring every animal has a chance at a long, happy life.
Founded in the 1970s by two ladies with a van and a handful of foster homes, the Morgan County Humane Society has grown into a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. In 1998, a generous donation allowed us to transform an old church in Martinsville into our permanent shelter, which we have since expanded to include kennels, a cattery, and exercise areas.
We believe in a blend of compassionate, on-site shelter care and the vital support of our dedicated foster network. Our facility provides a safe harbor for 150 to 200 animals at a time, while our foster program allows sick, injured, or young animals to heal and grow in a comfortable home environment. This partnership between our staff, volunteers, and foster parents allows us to care for more animals and prepare them for their forever families.
At MCHS, our goal is to match potential adopters with a pet that is perfectly suited to your home, interests, and lifestyle. We provide lifetime pet support, age-appropriate vaccinations, and spay/neuter services to ensure a healthy start for your new family member. We are here to guide you through the process, helping you find your purrfect match.
