Heartland Small Animal Rescue
Our Mission
Heartland Small Animal Rescue, Inc. is a dedicated non-profit organization serving South Bend and the surrounding cities with a commitment to finding loving, forever homes for homeless pets. We strive to give every animal in our care a gentle path toward a bright future.
Our Story
Founded to rescue small pocket pets, our organization has grown significantly since our inception. We expanded our mission over time to include cats in our care, followed by dogs in 2010, and we are now proud to welcome reptiles and birds into our rescue family as well.
Our Care Model
We operate as a foster-based rescue, believing that a home environment offers the best transition for our animals. By housing our pets with our family of volunteers, we reduce stress and anxiety, work on essential socialization and training, and gain a deep understanding of each animal’s unique personality. This thoughtful approach ensures that we can make the perfect match between our rescued pets and their new families.
Finding Your Perfect Companion
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to help you navigate that journey. Whether you are looking for a playful dog, a quiet cat, or a small companion animal, we consider your lifestyle, activity level, and experience to help you find a pet that will thrive in your home. Our team is happy to provide care guidance so you feel confident and prepared to welcome your new friend.
