Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County
Our Mission
The Animal Welfare League is dedicated to providing compassionate care to the homeless animals of Kosciusko County as we work tirelessly to find them their perfect forever homes. We believe in the power of second chances and are committed to keeping pets safe and healthy for as long as it takes.
Our Story
Since our incorporation in 1989, we have grown into a vital community resource, officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1992. In 2023, our commitment to excellence was honored when we received the prestigious Touchstone Award from the Best Friends Animal Society, recognizing us as one of the top five shelters in the country for our lifesaving strategies.
How We Care
Our passionate staff maintains a healthy, welcoming facility where every animal receives a complete wellness check, necessary vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and a microchip. We are proud to be a no-kill facility for space, ensuring that every pet receives the time and care they need to thrive. Through our innovative programs like the Nursery Nanny initiative and our specialized Cat House, we provide tailored care for animals of all ages and needs.
Your Adoption Journey
We believe that pets are a true wellness program for the community, providing unconditional love and companionship to everyone from seniors to families. To help you find the perfect match, we offer a simple adoption process that includes time to bond with pets in our cuddle rooms or during outdoor walks. Our flexible trial adoption program allows you to ensure a new pet is the right fit for your home before finalizing your commitment.
